Happy day! Our weekend was the best kind: we got to spend it together. We’ve had a busy winter where I’ve been gone coaching volleyball on weekends and who knows what else. Life just gets busy.
But this weekend was blissfully light on plans.
Another thing: it was WARM. It was the beginning of March in Wisconsin, and it was mild enough to go sans-coat. So we spent a good portion of both Saturday and Sunday outside.
Hallelujah, kick up yer boots, springtime has smiled on us at long last!
So we were outside playing, working, and hanging out. It. Was. Awesome. Check it out.
Ethan worked on finishing the railings on both our front and back decks. O figured he needed some help leveling this post.
Look at those manly hands. Mmmm. What a stud.
More help from Oliver. Those are some pretty sweet hands too, little man.
The chubby fisted toddler-man did help by bringing daddy screws. We worked on our counting…this was two.
This is what the top of the deck posts look like before Ethan takes a router to them.
There’s that handsome guy making magic with the router.
Here’s the post…post router! Nice and smooth. Boo-tiful.
You’ll notice the tops of our kitchen chairs and a bottle of wood glue in the background—that was my “project.” Tightening the chairs up. I wiped off the excess glue while Ethan applied the glue and strapped the chairs…next time I might contribute more.
But this guy…he loves the hammer. I’m a little worried he’s going to take the back end of the thing to his face.
Check out how wonky those boards are! Green treated wood comes with some water content, so when it dries over time it shrinks. Cool, but let’s fix that!
This guy…he’s the coolest.
Sorry O, you’re a cool dude too.
And so precious.
I hope your weekend was as productive as ours. Celebrate today!
